| American Music Club (AMC)
Friday, Apr 25, 2008 8:00 PM EDT
at Johnny Brenda's
AMC with its two new cute members were seemingly not up for the challenge. I mean it didn't seem like their heart was into the gig. At one point the new bass player got off stage to grab a beer. The instruments were set louder than the vocals so you couldn't hear Mark's lovely voice as well as I would've preferred. The distortion on the guitars were a bit alarming due to the nature of the music.
At one point the talk of the crowd was louder than the band. They started off good with Superstar. Lost interest as the noise from the crowd grew louder.
The unexpected bright note of the night was the opening band, Drink up Buttercup. They opened with a bang.. literally. ("Mr. Pie Eyes") This band showed passion and were fresh and delightful. The two brothers voices meld beautifully as only family members could.
They
ended with an "in the crowd foot stompin and hand clamping" rendention of "Lovers Play dead" They hail from Bucks County and hope to see more of them around. You can check them out on their myspace page.
